The UCLA Institute for Technology, Law and Policy is a collaboration between UCLA School of Law and the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering. ITLP was established in 2020 to perform cross-disciplinary research on the ways that new and emerging technologies affect society, privacy, law, and public policy. Supported by a five-year, $10.25 million grant, the institute brings together faculty and students from the law and engineering schools to conduct research, convene events and engage the wider academic community and the public about the benefits, risks, and public policy implications of new technologies, which pose questions ranging from ethical and human rights inquiries to the applicability and utility of current laws and regulations to govern their use.
