The University of California Press invites applications for the
Director, UC Press Foundation,
an independent 501(c)(3) fundraising organization.

The UC Press Foundation conducts strategic fundraising activities to support UC Press's mission- publishing books and journals that shift paradigms in the arts, sciences, humanities, and social sciences, with a focus on social justice. Founded in 1893, University of California Press is one of the most forward-thinking scholarly publishers, committed to influencing public discourse and challenging the status quo. Headquartered in Oakland, California, UC Press has a staff of 75 full time employees, and publishes approximately 185 new books and over 40 journals annually.

Reporting to the Executive Director of UC Press and working in conjunction with the UC Press Foundation Board of Trustees, the UC Press Foundation Director holds strategic and operational responsibility for the UC Press Foundation's fundraising activities with an emphasis on growth to support the Press's mission.

The Director of the Foundation serves as the lead development professional overseeing the UC Press Foundation and its fundraising program. The Director should have a deep working knowledge of the field of fundraising as well as demonstrated experience effectively managing fundraising boards and driving growth, particularly in a cultural institution or in a higher education setting. The Director will be responsible for long-range and annual fundraising strategies involving membership, major gifts, planned giving, and foundation, government, and corporate grants. The Director will also collaborate with and provide fundraising support to the Board of Trustees, UC Press staff, advisory committee members and volunteers.
