The general purpose of this position is to serve as colleague and partner in the operation of the office of the Senior Vice Chancellor and Caruso School of Law Dean Emeritus. The individual in this role will provide detailed administrative and management support for a highly visible public relations/fundraising effort and assist in maintaining and cultivating numerous important relationships and serving members of various constituencies which support, or may be influenced to support Pepperdine University.

Duties
  • Act as public relations representative for the Senior Vice Chancellor & Caruso School of Law Dean Emeritus. Develop and maintain relationships with donors, prospective donors, members of various Pepperdine Boards, public figures such as members of the United States Supreme Court, members of the Supreme Courts of various states, other members of the federal and state judiciary, leaders in law, government, business, and education, community members, alumni, parents, etc. Arrange, coordinate and supervise luncheons, dinners, receptions, campus visits and other events. Keep detailed records of all contacts and plan follow-up strategy. Set up appointments with those listed above and establish a good working relationship with key members of their staffs.
  • Propose responses to incoming/outgoing mail and emails on behalf of the Senior Vice Chancellor and CSOL Dean Emeritus where appropriate. Compose and type various correspondence and reports, transcribe dictation.
  • Act in the Senior Vice Chancellor's absence in trouble-shooting and maintaining relationships with his contacts and with University officials, other staff, etc. Serve as the primary greeter for the office.
  • Manage various projects, including mass mailings, extensive list development and maintenance, prospect investigation, etc.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student workers.
  • Maintain the appointment calendar for the office and make travel arrangements.
  • Maintain office files, supplies, etc.
  • Review all office expenditures, prepare expense reports, and reconcile department budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
