Position Summary
The Major Gifts Officer position is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects and donors.

This position is considered a Responsible Employee under Title IX federal regulations and Mandatory Reporter under Texas state law and The UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about violating Title IX. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Self-motivator with ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

High degree of professionalism, to include ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Excellent aptitude for critical thinking and problem-solving, to include outstanding organizational ability, project management skills, with focused attention to detail and follow through.

Ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure and flexibility in a results-oriented environment with constantly changing demands, multiple deadlines, and competing requirements.

Proficient with technology, including database management, donor rating software, word processing and spreadsheets.

Demonstrated strong computing and online research skills, with Microsoft Office software suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel), Ellucian Banner or similar software, and development specific research tools (Evertrue, DonorSearch, etc.).

Knowledge of current trends in alumni engagement, moves management, prospect research, wealth analysis and business, preferably in a higher education or non-profit environment.

Highly developed relationship building skills to communicate effectively with internal and external constituents with multiple personality types, consistently exhibiting a level of professional maturity, judgment and decisiveness that motivates colleagues and inspires confidence.

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
Bachelors Degree.


Required Work Experience
Five (5) to seven (7) years of work experience in development, constituent relations, community outreach or related field.


Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree.

Familiarity with Ellucian Banner.

Fundraising experience in capital/comprehensive campaigns.

Experience in Advancement/Development in higher education office.


Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Valid Texas Drivers License or the ability to gain one within 30 days of employment.


Work Hours
Travel and working evenings and weekends are required as necessary.
