DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Employer Partnership (DEP) serves the North Far North (Region A). The DEP will work with Region A colleges and employers to align workforce training and career pathways with evolving industry needs. Key functions include problem solving and decision-making for large-scale and complex projects. Under the direction of the Vice President of Economic and Workforce Development, the Executive Director of the North Far North, the DEP provides overall direction and guidance for day-to-day employer partnerships. The DEP will have direct supervision of over twelve (12) Assistant Directors of Employer Partnership (ADEP) stationed remotely throughout the NFN region. The DEP will implement policies and guidelines, report on status and progress, assume accountability for project quality and timelines, direct the work of ADEPs, supervise staff, and establish and monitor project budgets. The DEP oversees local and regional projects within Region A, geographic region specified above. Employees in this job class receive limited supervision within a broad framework of policies and procedures and hire, train, assign, schedule, supervise, and formally evaluate the work of others. This is a classified administrative, overtime exempt position.

CLASSIFICATION: Range 45 on the Administrative Confidential Salary Schedule, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Work assignment hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00p.m., Monday through Friday.

SUPERVISOR: Vice President of Economic & Workforce Development or designee

Typical Duties, Knowledge and Ability
Essential Functions:

  • Work with stakeholders to create and implement a strategic plan for employer development and engagement which leverages existing and new employer partnerships; and that increases the number of internships and job opportunities for North Far North community college students.
  • Collaborate with college campus Work-Experience Coordinators to elicit feedback about student performance in the workplace.
  • Oversee accountability metrics mechanism to inform continuous improvement of regional employer engagement.
  • Coordinate activities to address engagement at multiple levels of work-based learning and job placement.
  • Develop and implement an effective communication strategy to avoid duplication of effort, support collaboration, and contribute to effective information and knowledge management.
  • Build capacity of Assistant Directors of Employer Partnerships (ADEP's), Work Based Learning (WBL) Coordinators, Workforce Boards, Job Placement Case Managers and Career Centers.
  • Leverage and analyze data to inform the development, maintenance, and growth of strategic employer relationships across the industry sectors/emerging economies, creating opportunities for all academic areas of study.
  • Develop a collaboration strategy for engaging with the Work-Based Learning Coordinator and Job Placement at each North Far North colleges.
  • Support successful implementation of a work-based learning and job placement technology solution for streamlined tracking and reporting.
  • Serve as a key advisor to regional leadership regarding engagement of employers as champions of the strong workforce efforts.
  • Collaborate with other regional workforce development and economic development organizations to implement a comprehensive workforce development strategy
  • Manage multiple projects and activities with complex needs, competing demands, and various timelines.
  • Represent the region at relevant events with external constituents, professional associations, and relevant career and workforce development initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of recruiting practices and hiring preferences of employers and communicate to stakeholders.
  • Oversee communication with employers to the effective use and interaction with the regional system/model.
  • Problem solving and decision making regarding a large and complex assigned project; implements project policies and directives according to District, Federal or State guidelines.
  • Conducting regular meetings with employer partners to communicate, review and revise project guidelines.
  • Assuring project expenditures are within allocated budgets; monitors budgets; proposing budget changes and participates in project budget applications as necessary.
  • Establishing appropriate linkages to special populations or community groups served; promoting projects through participation in advocacy groups, associations and other local, regional or national organizations.
  • Providing regular reports to district and regional leadership.
  • Provides expert guidance to the Chancellor's Office, regional consortia, and regional sector specific centers.
  • Evaluates the work of ADEPS and staff.
  • Organizes, coordinates, directs, and supervises the activities and operations of the assigned project.
  • Plans, coordinates, and prepares a variety of project literature, marketing materials, catalogs, and brochures.
  • Provides direction, work assignments, and guidance to project staff, including classified personnel, students, volunteers, and others; provides input for staff performance evaluations.
  • Establish measurable business development targets with the Assistant Directors Employer of Partnerships, track progress and report outcomes.
  • Assist and guide ADEPs with encouraging employers to hire students from our diverse student population, focused around our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work around the system.
Knowledge of:
  • Planning and coordinating the day-to-day activities of assigned projects.
  • Policies, objectives, and goals of assigned project, including practices for promoting programs.
  • Developing and delivering presentations on projects in a variety of formats, including conducting workshops.
  • Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the Regional Director assignment.

Experience/Education
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university
Education Preferred:
  • Master's degree in related field or equivalent education required, and three (3) years of related experience.
Experience Required:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in business development.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in supervising, directing and evaluating the work of subordinates.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students, as well as staff members and students with physical and/or learning disabilities.
  • Hold a valid driver's license maintained throughout the duration of employment with the District. Travel is required.

New Administrative Appointments will be placed at the step 1 on the Administrative Salary Schedule and will graduate to the next step on July 1st of the following year if they have rendered 6 months of satisfactory service, with subsequent steps annually thereafter to a maximum fifth step.

Salary placement would only be negotiable if the candidate held the same position with another community college and step 2 or 3 would be the maximum considered depending on the number of years of service.
