Assistant Director, Alumni & Family Engagement

Summary:

The Assistant Director engages alumni & families through regional programming, virtual opportunities, and signature events. This individual will partner with affinity groups on reunions and special events, and staff volunteer leaders working on behalf of the respective affinities. Collaboration is critical with advancement colleagues and campus partners. This team member will develop and implement the overall social media strategy for Alumni & Family Engagement.

Essential Departmental Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Initiates and executes 25-35 regional and/or virtual programs/events annually.
  • Maintains all aspects of these programs including but not limited to RSVPs; budgeting and expenses; text for invitations, web site, and social media; and post-event surveys.
  • Collaborates with Advancement colleagues on potential hosts, venues, etc.
  • Recruits Regional Ambassadors to coordinate local programming.
  • Plans and executes I.S. Monday happy hours in 50+ markets annually by securing venues, training volunteer hosts, developing marketing plans, and managing payments and reimbursements.
  • Supports the operations of Homecoming and Reunion Weekend events.
  • Leads programming efforts for various affinity groups.
  • Supports and collaborates with affinity reunion committees in planning and engagement efforts
  • Collaborates with respective campus offices and colleagues.
  • Develops comprehensive social media strategy for Alumni & Family Engagement programming.
  • Writes content, manages campaigns, and analyzes data points.
  • Co-supervises social media intern.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively in both verbal and written forms, including presenting to groups, responding to questions, and participating in meetings.
  • Reads, interprets, and presents written and numerical information accurately.

Knowledge:

  • Works well in group problem solving situations.

Work Environment:
  • Standard office workplace with desk and private office.
  • Majority of time spent at desk.
  • Special events require out-of-office flexibility.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends are expected.
  • Some travel required.


Physical Demands:
  • Some lifting/moving of boxes and supplies.
  • Event set-up and clean-up.
