In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary

Under direction of the Associate Director, the Alumni Tutor will work regularly with cohort in either large group course-specific reviews or smaller group of 5-8 students through the LEAD Tutorial Assistance Program (TAP). The large group reviews will be presented at minimum two times per month, typically before an exam. The smaller groups are a tutoring intervention for students in academic difficulty or formal Academic Probation.

Additionally, the Alumni Tutor may work with incoming students through LEADs Summer Preparedness and Readiness Course (SPaRC) by providing overviews of traditionally difficult courses. The Alumni Tutor will supply effective facilitation in a manner improving at-risk students academic skills while developing mastery of subject material. Student independence rather than tutor dependence will be the emphasis of the Alumni Tutor. This position will also adhere to LEAD TAP guidelines as well as follow LEAD documentation policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Good verbal and written communication skills to be able to interact with faculty, staff, students, and any outside contacts.
Excellent computer skills to use various related software e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Docs, and other software programs required by the position.
Must have a good working knowledge of the Internet.

Education: Terminal Professional Degree required
Experience: Some professional experience required.
