In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Alumni & Family Engagement will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight towards meeting the mission and goals of the Office of University Advancement by building relationships with alumni, families, and external and campus stakeholders. This position will also be responsible for initiatives related to tracking, measuring, and increasing alumni engagement and collaborate with academic programs, Deans, faculty, staff, external partners, and internal partners. This position will execute the Alumni & Family Engagement strategic plan and lead volunteer staff in accomplishing the strategic goals. This position will lead and assess major institutional growth with alumni event attendance and creatively develop new approaches and programs to effectively engage WesternU alumni.

This position reports to the Director of Alumni Relations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated understanding and knowledge of the alumni constituencies and the principles/foundation of alumni relations and annual giving initiatives.

Exceptional and honest communication skills, both orally and in writing as it pertains to fundraising.

Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, strong database management and ability to produce detailed reports

Proficient in Adobe Suite applications - Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Social Media platforms and MS Office applications.

Proven ability to collaborate across complex organizations and with a wide variety of constituents.

The ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting.

Ability to effectively work with other advancement team leaders and members in devising, analyzing, modifying, implementing and evaluating overall University Advancement and development programs.

Ability to travel and work flexible hours on some weekend and evening projects are required.



Required Qualifications
Required QualificationsEducation: Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Bachelors degree desired.Minimum 2-5 years, preferably in alumni relations, annual giving, advancement or higher education.

40% - Alumni & Family Engagement Activities
Executes the Alumni & Family Engagement strategic plan to provide resources, events, and engagement opportunities for the universitys diverse and complex alumni populations. This includes all regional outreach, alumni events, alumni volunteers, campus initiatives utilizing alumni, and marketing collateral.
Collaborates and develops relationships with Deans and faculty in academic departments, and other key university stakeholders to implement and sustain the comprehensive alumni engagement strategic plan.
Represents the university in the community including being available to alumni, friends of the university, parents, donors, and officials to discuss any facet of the university.
Partners and collaborates with the various school/college/department alumni representatives to ensure a cohesive and congruent alumni strategy and data tracking and analysis.
Establishes and builds relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Develops, and oversees specific alumni event and volunteer tracking.
Research, assess, and implement communication tools, and social networking resources to support and enhance engagement efforts.

Defines metrics that will gauge progress in increasing alumni engagement and depth of alumni relationships with the university.
Research, monitor, evaluate and interpret other data to identify new opportunities.
Measure and monitor event outcomes to increase engagement of alumni and donors and enhance attendee experience and satisfaction.
Prepare cost-analysis and tracking reports that evaluate the effectiveness of Advancement volunteer activities.
Track and analyze biographical and demographical alumni data in a strategic effort to serve the needs of the alumni population.
Assess involvement in student recruitment, community outreach programs, fundraising programs as well as events and benefit programs.
- Perform ongoing analysis of engagement efforts thus contributing to an overall analysis of the Office of Alumni and Family Engagement.

Develop, implement, and manage alumni engagement event reports and expenses on a monthly/weekly/daily basis.
- Using critical thinking skills, identify and work with multiple collaborators and stakeholders to vet decisions, secure buy-in, and adjust plans if needed.
- Remain knowledgeable about ongoing WesternU events, activities, initiatives, news, awards, and programming to promote connections with alumni and families.
- Work closely with internal and external teams by creating a communication plan.
- Conduct event de-brief meetings with department lead and determine ways to improve the event.
- Provide on-site support as needed for events including, but not limited to event set up, greeting guests, coordinating nametags, ticket and program distribution, special menu requirements/meal changes and disability accommodations.

Organizes and maintains records for electronic and physical inventory of materials.
Occasionally travel to and interact with alumni at receptions and exhibit halls at professional conferences, networking mixers, on campus lectures, and other University events.
