Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development, the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for engaging with college and campus leaders to secure philanthropic funding from corporations and foundations for university initiatives. The Director will identify, cultivate, and solicit six-figure-plus gifts from corporations and foundations. In addition to actively managing a portfolio of prospects, the Director will collaborate with development colleagues across campus to identify projects and potential funders for the university. The Director is responsible for creating proposals and other materials for funding opportunities along with stewarding the donors for relationship building purposes and ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities
  • Development and Fundraising: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward philanthropic gifts of $100,000 and greater from corporations and foundations to support university initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other campus leaders, including development staff, to identify potential corporate or foundation funders for university philanthropic projects.
  • Strategy: Work with the Vice President and Associate Vice President for Development within University Relations and Development and other key leaders to identify philanthropic priorities and create successful development strategies for each one.
  • Community Building: Work with various constituents including businesses, community organizations, and community leaders to develop strategic objectives that will result in philanthropic partnerships benefiting the university.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the solicitation process in an educational environment. Proficient in identifying and building a pipeline of future donors. Ability to work with faculty and campus community in identifying potential corporate and foundations supporters and creating successful proposals along with stewarding the donors. Excellent planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills. Strong competency in oral and written communication. Ability to work independently and effectively without close supervision. Self direction in the initiation, coordination, and completion of tasks is essential.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of demonstrated successful major gift fundraising with a preference in corporate and foundation relations required. Experience in higher education preferred.
Licenses / Certificates

Valid California driver's license required.

The hiring range for this position is $100,068 to $150,108 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
