Position Summary:
This position will be working with the development team to advance the mission of the University of Idaho by inspiring private giving among alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations. By building and strengthening relationships, our donor-centered approach connects stakeholders' passions and philanthropic goals with opportunities to support the university priorities.

Duties may include:
  • Establishes relationships with planned giving donors and prospects that incorporate visits, proposals, and ongoing stewardship
  • Maintains personal responsibility for a portfolio of 75-100 donors and prospects; will make 120-160 strategic moves per year and submit 30-45 proposals of $25,000 or more per year
  • Close $3-$5M in new gifts and commitments per year
  • Works with professional advisors of prospective donors
  • Supervise other planned giving officers
  • Participates with the OETGP team to brainstorm, review, edit and improve OETGP marketing and to establish an overall marketing plan
  • Gives periodic planned giving presentations/training to development officers, volunteers, donor and prospect groups and professional organizations
  • Shares in staffing the Gift Acceptance Committee and OETGP Planned Giving Advisory Board(s)
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree
  • Five years experience in grant writing, fundraising, outside sales or constituent-based outreach
  • Experience working in an environment dependent on developing and maintaining positive relationships with a demonstrated record of teamwork and collaboration





Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
  • An advanced degree or professional certification related to estate and/or financial planning such as a CPA, CFP, J.D., AB, LLM, MBA, CSPG or AEP



Experience with/in:
  • Complex gift issues, with the ability to analyze and interpret information and make decisions and to organize and carry out complex tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Supervising direct reports
  • Recruiting, organizing and managing volunteers
  • Public relations or marketing experience, preferably related to fundraising
  • Database computer systems and microcomputer applications, preferably with customer relationship management systems
  • Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing
