Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) seeks a collaborative, innovative and experienced leader to serve as its Vice President of Advancement.

HPU is a private, not-for-profit institution of approximately 4,200 students with a full-time equivalent enrollment of 2,798 undergraduates and 376 graduate students coming from all 50 United States and its territories and nearly 65 countries. Founded in 1965, HPU is Hawaii's largest private university with its core campus in the heart of Honolulu's business district. HPU's investment in the urban student experience translates to greater hands-on experiences for students, expanded interdisciplinary collaboration between colleges and programs and deeper engagement with the community of Honolulu and the state of Hawaii. Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President will develop and execute both annual and long-term plans and goals for advancement and alumni development that meet institutional goals and objectives. The Vice President will manage a team of seven or eight employees, the department's budget, facilities and technology-related needs, gift administration and reporting, advancement event management, the preparation of summary reports and analysis of fundraising results. They will build a culture of philanthropy across campus and beyond; focus on operations and infrastructure; engage with the external community; support the development of the University advancement team; enhance alumni relationships and expand advancement's reach; and collaborate with University and academic leadership.

The next Vice President of Advancement will be a highly experienced development professional who demonstrates a successful personal record as a major and/or principal gift fundraiser. With at least eight years of progressively responsible experience in development programs in an education setting, the Vice President will have demonstrated knowledge of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in the area of corporate and foundation fundraising. HPU's VP will possess excellent diplomatic skills, cultural competencies and intellectual curiosity. This leader will be capable of conveying appropriate messages and representing the University to the local community to encourage and facilitate support of HPU's mission and goals. They must be comfortable in a multi-cultural setting and be familiar with, or willing to embrace, Hawaii's unique business culture. The ability to actively listen and gauge gifting motivations is imperative, as are exemplary oral and written communication skills, credibility and comfort in frequently collaborating with the President and Trustees.
